Stainless Steel

Stainless steel (SS) is a widely used material for industrial springs when corrosion resistance, reliability, and long service life are required. Stainless steel springs are used in sectors such as mechanical engineering, offshore, food processing, and medical technology.

Stainless steel is a suitable material choice when:

• the spring is exposed to moisture, chemicals, or outdoor air
• maintenance needs to be minimized
• hygiene or appearance is important
• reliability is more important than minimum material cost

In dry, non-corrosive environments, spring steel can sometimes be a more cost-effective alternative. Thanks to our many years of experience, we are happy to advise you on the best material choice.

For leaf springs, we often recommend stainless steel spring strip, as this material is less prone to cracking under repeated bending.

Depending on the type of spring, we use:

• Stainless steel wire for compression and extension springs
• Stainless steel sheet for flat springs and stamped parts
• Stainless steel spring strip for leaf springs

Stainless steel springs are generally suitable up to approximately 200 °C. After coiling, they are stress-relieved (for example, 300 °C for 1 hour, air cooling) to ensure stable spring characteristics and long service life.
